Using the Planet POE adapters, you can power most DC network devices (hubs, Wireless access points, cameras etc) over the same Cat 5/5e cable used to connect the device to the network. When positioning network devices, system designers always have to consider the location of power outlets. In some cases, this will restrict the optimum placement of devices or incur additional cost in installing new outlets. Planet's PoE solution addresses these problems. The PoE product includes two units: an Injector and a Splitter. An Injector inserts current into the unused wires in a standard network cable (pins: 4, 5, 7 and 8) allowing the cable between the Injector and the Splitter to transfer power and network signals simultaneously. The maximum distance between the Injector and Splitter can reach 100m/328ft, as defined by the IEEE 802.3 standard.By eliminating the need for power cords, PoE has following benefits:Cost saving - The cost of deploying PoE is much lower than a traditional electrical circuit.Ease of network planning - the system designer has more flexibility to locate network devices. Independence from power outlets makes it easier to relocate devices or obtain the best performance, e,g: fine-tuning the RF coverage of an AP.Steady Wireless LAN connectivity - PoE allows a Wireless Access Point to be placed close to the antenna, thus avoiding signal loss over antenna cable.
Where the Installation site of a network device is not close to a power outlet. Used with a Wireless Bridge, Access Point, Internet Camera or other device which requires an external DC power adapter. The basic connection structure is shown beside. As illustrated below. The Wireless Access Point in a warehouse must be installed on the roof so that all computers can make use of it. Another AP on the second floor of an office building also has to find an optimal position to provide service to all PCs on the same floor. Moreover, an Internet Camera is installed on the left side of the building for security surveillance. In the past, system designers are forced to place these devices close to power outlets, and perhaps, sacrifice performance or reliability. Using PoE, you can implement a high performance network without incurring additional costs by requiring addition or reloacation of power outlets.
For the cost saving and power management purpose, PLANET releases a new Power over Ethernet Injector POE-151.The POE-151 is an IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet Injector that provides DC 48V over Ethernet cables. The POE-151 IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet Injector inserts DC Voltage into Cat.5 cable, allowing the cable between the Injector (POE-151) and Splitter (POE-151S-5V/9V/12V) to transfer data and power simultaneously. The maximum distance between the Injector (POE-151) and Splitter (POE-151S-5V/9V/12V) is 100 meters. With POE-151 being installed, it combines the Ethernet digital data with power over the twisted pair cables as an IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet Injector. And the IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet splitter shall separate the digital data and the power into two outputs. With IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet devices being installed, the system administrator only has to use a single RJ-45 Ethernet cable to carry both power and data to each device. Besides, to connect through POE-151 and POE-151S-5V/9V/12V, you could also have benefits including cost saving, easy for networking planning and higher reliability. What's more, upon any IEEE 802.3af devices being installed, the POE-151 or together with POE-151S-5V/9V/12V can make the connection while migrating or splitting the power and the Ethernet digital packets, such as connecting the POE-151 to an IEEE 802.3af complied devices, AP or IP phone.
Connect to IEEE 802.3af devices:Due to the capability of IEEE 802.3af standard, the POE-151 can directly connect with any IEEE 802.3af end-nodes like wireless access point, IP phones and Internet camera where support IEEE 802.3af In-line Power over Ethernet port. The IEEE 802.3af Injector and Splitter installation:For a place hard to find the power inlet, POE-151 and POE-151S-5V/9V/12V, as a pair, should provide the easiest way to power your Ethernet devices such as PLANET ICA-110, Internet Camera on the ceiling, or WAP-4000, Wireless Access Point that is installed on the top of the building. It's the same with the VIP-153PT, IP phone used in office or home
The PLANET POE-1200 is a 12-port IEEE802.3af Power over Ethernet injector hub complied with IEEE802.3, IEEE802.3u and IEEE802.3af standards. Equipped with 12 10/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet ports, the products support full 48VDC power for any remote IEEE802.3af powered device (PD) like Wireless LAN Access Point, IP phone, and LAN Camera. Supporting power supply of 130 watts, POE-1200 provides sufficient power to the 12 remote devices. There are 24 RJ-45 STP ports on the front panel of hub. Half of the ports on lower stack function as "Data" and the other half on upper stack function as "Data and Power output". Each of the "Data and Power output" port on upper stack operates as an injector which inserts DC Voltage into the CAT 5 cable allowing the cable between the Injector and Splitter to transfer data and power simultaneously. To manage your powered devices, POE-1200 provide both Web and Console management interfaces in which administrators can use the functions including port Enable/Disable, port priority, system configuration, and Username/Password changing and with smart features for powered device. The Hub can auto detect the power status on each port and show massages on both Web and Console management interface. These features also provide a cost-effective way to manage the devices from Internet whenever you are at work or at home.
