BACKGROUND

Recent industry reports reveal that, due to flooding, 30% of structured cabling is replaced before the building is handed over to the client. Both DAT-MAT and DAT-DUCT are designed to minimise this risk and the inevitable insurance claims, which can arise.

Water ingress into the data cabling system can have a serious effect on the cable’s ability to support high bit rate data, ie: Gigabit Ethernet. When the cable gets wet the dielectric performance is changed, affecting impedanceand the related parameters of attenuation and return loss.

It is a common misunderstanding that PVC data cables are waterproof; they are not, the are hygroscopic. Standard Cat5e and Cat6 cables have a pvc coating which is designed for indoor use. It is not suitable in wet conditions.

PRODUCT INFORMATION
  • Mita’s DAT-MAT is a low smoke zero halogen (LS0H) water resistant polymer mat, designed for laying cables under raised floors. By raising Data Cables off of the floor, DAT-MAT protects against low water flooding, attack fromchemicals in the floor screed, and also sharp edges in the floor finish.
  • Supplied in 2m lengths
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to cut on site
  • No earthing required - therefore saving time on installation and low maintenance
  • LS0H and water resistant material makes DAT-MAT ideal for under floor applications, by raising cables off the floor
  • this will protect against low flooding
  • Standard thickness 5mm
  • Standard width 300mm and 550mm. Other widths available
  • Direct laying of data cables onto the concrete floor can result in potential chemical contamination, DAT-MAT will form
  • a barrier between the two components
  • If required, DAT-MAT can be installed into a wire basket
